Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and GetRef. They set out what we provide, what we ask of you in return, and what happens if something goes wrong. We have tried to write them in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.

They cover the GetRef website at getref.in, the GetRef web application at app.getref.in, and the GetRef browser extension. By creating an account or using any of them, you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use GetRef.

The short version. Save references for your own use, don't abuse the service or use it to store anything unlawful, and your library stays yours. We will do our best to keep GetRef running, but we cannot promise perfection, so keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Paid plans are billed as described below and you can stop whenever you like.

1. What GetRef is

GetRef is a tool for saving design references (screenshots, images, links, notes and prompts) and finding them again by describing them. Tags are generated automatically on your own device, and search runs over your own library.

GetRef is a storage and retrieval tool. It is not a backup service, and it is not a publishing platform. Your library is private to you.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use GetRef.
  • You need to give us a working email address, and keep it current so we can reach you about your account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
  • One account is for one person. Please don't share credentials.

3. Your content stays yours

Everything you save to GetRef remains yours. We claim no ownership over your references, notes or prompts.

To operate the service, you give us a limited licence to store your content, process it to produce tags and search results, and display it back to you. That licence exists only so the product can work, it is not exclusive, and it ends when you delete the content or your account. We do not use your content to train any model, we do not show it to other users, and we do not license it to anyone else.

4. Saving other people's work

GetRef is built for collecting references, which usually means saving material somebody else created. That places some responsibility on you.

  • You are responsible for having the right to save what you save, and for how you use it afterwards. Keeping a reference for personal inspiration is very different from republishing it or passing it off as your own.
  • Your library is private, so saving to GetRef is not publication. It does not, on its own, make you the owner of anything.
  • If you are a rights holder and believe material stored on GetRef infringes your rights, Contact Support with enough detail to identify it. We will review it and act where appropriate, which may include removing content or suspending an account.

5. Acceptable use

Please do not use GetRef to:

  • Store or distribute anything unlawful, or any material that sexually exploits or endangers a child
  • Infringe someone else's copyright, trademark or privacy
  • Store malware, or anything intended to damage a device or system
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data
  • Probe, scan or test the security of the service, or interfere with its normal operation
  • Scrape the service, or use automated tools to create accounts or bulk-save content
  • Resell or redistribute GetRef as your own product

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where the breach is minor and unintentional, we will normally get in touch first.

6. Plans and payment

GetRef has a free plan and a paid plan. The free plan includes a fixed number of references and collections, shown on the pricing page. Every feature is available on every plan. Paid plans buy capacity, not features.

How payment currently works. We do not take card details on the website. If you ask to upgrade, we record the request and email you a payment link. Your payment is handled by the payment provider on that link, and we never see or store your card details.

Prices are those shown on the pricing page at the time you pay. We may change prices, but a change never applies to a period you have already paid for. If you hold a recurring plan, we will give you reasonable notice by email before a price change takes effect.

Lifetime access, where offered, means for as long as GetRef operates as a service. It is not a promise that the service will exist forever, and it does not oblige us to run it indefinitely. If we ever have to close GetRef down, section 10 explains what we will do.

Taxes may apply depending on where you are, and are your responsibility unless we state otherwise.

7. Refunds and cancellation

You can stop using GetRef at any time, and you can delete your account from Settings whenever you like.

If a paid plan is not what you expected, email us within 14 days of paying and we will refund you in full, no explanation needed. After that window we do not offer refunds for time already paid for, though we will always look at genuine problems on their merits. If the service was broken or unavailable, talk to us.

If you cancel a recurring plan you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not pro-rate part-months.

When a paid plan ends, your account returns to the free plan. Your references are not deleted, but anything above the free limits becomes read-only until you either upgrade again or bring your library back within the limits.

8. Availability and change

We aim to keep GetRef available and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. There will be maintenance, occasional faults, and dependencies outside our control.

We may add, change or remove features as the product develops. Where a change materially reduces what you get on a plan you are paying for, we will tell you by email, and you may cancel and ask for a refund of the unused portion.

Keep your own copies. GetRef is not a backup service. Please do not rely on it as the only place a piece of work exists.

9. No warranty, and the limits of our liability

GetRef is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of data. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or ₹1,000 if you are on the free plan.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Ending the agreement

You may stop at any time by deleting your account in Settings. That removes your references and uploaded files from our systems, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close your account if you materially break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Except where the law or a serious breach requires immediate action, we will give you notice and a chance to put things right.

If GetRef closes down, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email so you can retrieve your references, and we will refund the unused portion of any recurring plan.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version always lives at this address with its date at the top, and replaces all previous versions. If a change materially affects your rights we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use GetRef after that means you accept the revised terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Before going to court, please email us. Almost everything can be sorted out directly and far more quickly.

13. General

  • If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
  • If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms to someone else without our agreement. We may transfer ours if GetRef is acquired, in which case your rights are unaffected.
  • These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms, or anything else: Contact Support. We read everything and reply.
